Harmon of Highland Park in Boone. Mrs. Harmon is past president of the Worthwhile Woman’s Club of Boone, and is one of many members hand making Christmas decorations to be sold at the Bazaar this week. For several years, she worked with the County Welfare Department. She and Dr. Harmon are members of the First Methodist Church of Boone. Winston-Salem—Dr. Alfred Greenfield, intern ationally famous conductor, will direct the thirty-fifth annual per formance of Handel’s “Mes siah” at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, December 4, in Reynolds Memorial Auditorium. The presentation is under the aus pices of the Mozart Club. A chorus of approximately 300, composed of members of all church choirs and organiz ed choral groups of Winston Salem and surrounding cities, as well as individual singers not affiliated with any or ganized group, are participat ing in this event. Four nation ally renowned oratorio solo ists and an orchestra compos ed of the outstanding instru mentalists of North Carolina will perform under the direc tion of Dr. Alfred Greenfield. Viet Cong kill priest giving GI’s last rites. r ■ ■■ Baptist World Alliance Official To Speak Here Dr. Josef Nordenhaug, gen eral secretary of the Baptist World Alliance will be the guest speaker at the First Baptist Church of Boone Sun day morning, Dec. 4. Dr. Nordenhaug will speak at the 8:45 and 10:55 services of worship. A native of Norway, Dr. Nordenhaug attend the public schools of Oslo and is a gra duate of the University of Os lo. He attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, Ky. where he earned the Master of Theo logy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. He returned to Nor way as assistant to the pastor of First Baptist Church of Oslo, but returned to the U.S.A. where he served as pastor of Irene Cole Memorial Baptist Church in Preston burg, Ky. He was pastor of several churches and served in denominational posts. In 1948, he became the Editor of “The Commission,” publi cation of the Foreign Mission Board. Two years later he was elected president of the Bapt ist Theological Seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland. He served as chairman of the Baptist Relieg Committee for Hungary during the uprising in 1956. He was elected to his present position in 1960.
