The occcasion was in honor of her eighteenth birthday. Various kinds of candy were served. Miss Bass received many useful and attrac tive gifts. Buffet Supper Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Elliott enter tained with a buffet supper Christmas night. The bourse was appropriately decorated in the season colors of red and green. The dining table was covered with, a lace cloth and in the center a miniature Christmas tree. The coffee table was presided over by Mrs. John Elliott, and the hostess, was assisted in serving by Mrs. A. B Hollowell, Mrs. J. G. Perry and Miss Esther Elliott. MORRIS—PARRISH John William Morris, son of George Morris and the late Mrs. Georgia Morris, and Miss Margaret Privott Parrish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Parrish, both of Chowan County, were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the home of the Rev. Dr. I. W. John son, officiating minister, Suffolk, Va. The bride was dressed in a costume of blue with matching accessories. At tendants were Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Parrish. COUNTY SCHOOLS REOPENED Both white and colored schools of Chowan County reopened Monday morning following the Christmas holi days. A good attendance was report ed following the vacation, with all teachers in charge of their classes.
