Oglesby returned Sunday from a week’s stay in New York City. Mrs. Jackson attended the convention of the American Hairdressers and Cos metoligists while in New York. Howard C. Jackson spent the week end in Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, of Nor folk, Va., and Mrs. B. W. Copeland, of near Selwin, visited Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ward during the week-end. Hugh Bland Copeland, of Ahoskie. spent the week-end with his mother. Mrs. X. E. Copeland, on North Broad Street. Mrs. A. W. Sexton, William and Calvin Sexton visited their daughter and sister, Miss Ruth Sexton, who has been very ill, following an opera tion for appendicitis in the Protes tant Hospital, Norfolk, Va., this week. Miss Sexton’s condition is re norted to be greatly improved. Mr. and Mrs. Leah, of Waynesville, arrived Wednesday to spend several days with their daughter, Mrs. Thomas B. Wood, and Mr. Wood, at “Athol.” W. C. Brunson left Wednesday for Philadelphia, Pa., where he was call ed on account of the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Marie Brunson. EDENTON COUPLE MARRIED Robert Lassiter and Rado Smith, both residents of Edenton, were is sued a marriage license on Monday by Mrs. Maurice L. Bunch, the couple being married by Justice of the Peace W. S. Summerell. Crazy Water Crystals Band At Chowan High The Crazy Water Crystals string band, popular radio entertainers, will appear at the Chowan High School on Monday night at 7:30 o’clock. This well-known group of musicians will no doubt pack the school audi torium, and are brought here under the auspices of the Chowan Woman’s Club. RETURNS TO NEW YORK CITY Ben Skinner Hoskins returned to his home in New York City last Thursday after spending several days at the King’s Arms Tavern. Mr. Hoskins, who is about 75 years of age, spent several days here visiting old friends and relatives in Chowan and Perquimans counties. It has been about ten years since he was here, and he was much impressed by the improvements he found.
