Dr. and Mrs. W. I. Hart, Jr., left -Saturday for Nags Head, where 'they will spend the week. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Blow are spending their vacation at Nags Head. Mrs. C. T. Griffin, Mrs. Graham Byrum and Miss Evelyn Layden spent Monday in Norfolk, Va. Ambrose Griffin, of Greensboro, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Griffin, on North Broad Street. Mr. and Mrs. Willie White and their son, Billy, are visiting relatives in Suffolk, Va., for the next two weeks. Mrs. Jack Creedmore and Miss Mary Dugan have returned to their home in Washington, D. C., after being the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. W- Taylor, for several days. Mrs. Leroy Haskett and her son, Roger, have returned to their home on West Eden Street, after visiting in Wilson, Raleigh, and Smithfield. Mr. Haskett joined them for the week-end, and was accompanied to Edenton Sunday by them. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Campen, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Earnhardt are spending this week at Nags Head. Mrs. J. A. Powell and her son, Jess Powell, spent Monday at Hali fax with Mrs. Powell’s aunt, who is very ill. Mias Penelope Watkins, of Hender son, who is spending the summer at Nags Head, was the guest of Mrs. Sidney McMullan, a few days this week. Mrs. Will Morgan and her son, Leslie Morgan, and Miss Margaret Harrell spent Sunday at Virginia Beach, Va. Miss Willie Love Morgan is spend ing several days at Virginia Beach. Mrs. Mi L. Goodman and her son, H. A. Goodman, of Plymouth, visited Mrs. R. K. Hall, in North Edenton, several days this week. Mrs. N. L- Ward, Mrs. A. W. Ed wards and her daughters, Jean and Jackie, and Misses Glenn and Frances Ward spent Sunday at Rich Square. Murray Whichard, who has been attending summer school at Wake Forest College, has returned to visit his parents, Dr. and Mrs. M. P. Whichard, for the remainder of the summer. Mrs. John F. White and her little daughter, Carolyn, and Mrs. W. W. Bunch returned Friday from Balti more, Md., where they visited Mrs. S. R. Burch. Mrs. Raleigh Hollowell, who has been very ill with an abscessed ear, is now showing improvement. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Taylor and children are visiting friends in Ruth ■erfordton for several days. JORDAN—WILLIAMS The marriage of Miss Mildred Leigh Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey M. Williams, of Boy kins, Va., to James Elton Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Jor dan, of Tyner, took place Wednesday evening at 6 o’clock, the home of Mr- and Mrs. Broaddus Barnes, in Portsmouth, Va. The ceremony, which was witnessed by a small group of relatives and friends, was performed by the Rev. Jesse Draper, of Aulander. There were no bridal attendants. The bride was becomingly attired in a gown of salmon pink chiffon with brown accessories and wore a cor sage of Talisman roses. After the ceremony there was a dinner party for the bridal party and out-of-town guests, and later Mr. and Mrs. Jordan left to spend their honeymoon at Virginia Beach. Out-of-town guests included the bride's mother, Mrs. Aubrey Wil liams, of Boykins, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Boyce, Carey McNider and Miss Lucy Baker, of Tyner; Miss Juanita Draper, of Lasker; Mrs. Juanita Draper, of Aulander; Miss Hannah Lee Andrews and Miss Bernice Griffin, of Petersburg, Va. ELLIOTT HOSTESS TO CROSS ROADS SEWING CIRCLE Mrs. E. N. Elliott entertained the Sewing Circle Thursday evening at her home near Cross Roads. Due to the downpour of rain, there were only four present. The hostess serv ed a salad course. The meeting this week will be held with Mrs. Belle Parker on Friday evening, the change being made because of the meeting of the Rotary Club which is to be held Thursday evening in the primary school rooms. EVERETT—MITCHELL Mrs. John Locke Mitchell, Sr., of Harrellsville, has announced the marriage of her daughter, Mary, to Aumack Everett, of Roper. The mar- I riage was performed at South Mills. ' Mrs. Everett is a niece of N. C. Ward, of Edenton, and a grand daughter of the late H. N. Ward, of Chowan County. Mr. Everett is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Everett, who lived in Edenton several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Everett are at home with the bride’s mother at Harrells ville.
