Davis chairman of the fund raising committee. Names of members of the congregation were allocated Co a I group who met at the church, who I were requested to report to him not later than Friday of this week so that he in turn will be able to make- a ! report to the congregation Sunday as to the progress of the drive. In initial reports it was learned that quite a few members of the con gregation were not contacted Sunday s due to not being home at the time • solicitors called. VFW Post Sponsors Motorcycle And Car Stunt Slow May 26 Exciting Thrills Sched uled to Be Presented ' On Hicks Field t Henry G. Quinn, commander of the William H. Coffield, Jr., Post, No. 9280, Veterans of Foreign Wars, an nounced this week plans for a motor cycle and car stunt show to be pre sented at Hicks Field next Wednes day, May 26. Two shows will take place, one in the afternoon at 3 o’clock and one at night at 8 o’clock. Featured in the show will be Cap tain Putt Mossman and his Interna tional Daredevils. Besides Captain Mossman, the following performers will be seen, barring accidents before May 26: Grace Conrad, A'merican champion lady stunt motorcyclist; Mademoiselle Yvonne Montreaux, the French madam who challenges any man to a motorcycle race; Hilma Mossman, formerly Edinburgh* Scot land, lady champion car crash artist; ' Double Measure * * JSSfaDoub/e P/easut . Ewald" Schnitzer of Sacramento, Cal., ) ace of Mossman’s Australian, African, i New Zealand and European tours; Kid i Henning of Johannesburg,'South Af i rica, crash artist of Mossntan’s Af i rican tour, and Putt Mossman, Jr., s seven-year-old mascot and world’s 1 youngest motorcycle stunt rider. This show of two hours duration has traveled arotind the world three times since 1935. It has played on all six continents of the wqrld and in 44 different countries. According to local VFW Post of ficials, this promises to be one of the finest shows ever brought to Edenton. The entire proceeds derived from the show by the VFW will be used for charitable purposes in this and sur rounding communities. Advance sale tickets will be on sale by members of the local VFW Post, who hope a large number will witness this unique and thrilling entertain ment. 3rd Army Area Again Leads In Enlistments Local Station Sighed Up .16 Men During Month Os April For the fourth consecutive month, Army and Air Force recruiters of the Columbia Recruiting District retained leadership of the Third Army- Area when they exceeded their monthly quota of 1,080 enlistments by enlist ing 1,311 young men in North and South Carolina during April, accord ing to the monthly enlistment report released by Master Sergeant C.
