PAGE EIGHT Ernest J. Ward, Jr., Heads New Concern Colonial City Motors Succeeds Walter Holton As Willys-Overland Dealer Ernest J. Ward, Jr., will on Mon day, April 4, begin operation of Colonial Motors, Edenton’s newest automobile dealer and service garage. Mr. Ward succeeds Walter Holton, who operated the Edenton Supply Company, local Willys-Overland deal er, specializing in the Universal Jeep, panel delivery trucks, two and four wheel drive trucks, station wagons and the sporty Jeepster. Mr. Ward will carry a complete line of Willys- Overland parts. . In addition to handling the Willys- Overland products, the Colonial City Motors will offer a fine service garage for repair work to all type of ve hicles. Sam Moore, one of Edenton’s most capable mechanics, will be in charge of the service department and J. L. Chestnutt will serve as sales manager for the concern. The new enterprise will be located at 112 West Water Street. In announcing the new concern, Mr. Ward extends a cordial invitation to friends of the personnel as well as the general public to visit and inspect Colonial City Motors. Mr. Ward is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ward. He graduated from Edenton High School and attended the University of North Carolina. During the recent war he was prop erty and supply clerk at the Edenton Naval Air Station and transferred to the Chincoteague Air Facility when the Edenton Station was closed. In December, 1947, he accepted a position as executive secretary of the North Spray YMCA, where he re mained until March 15 of this year. While at Spray, Mr. Ward was public relations officer of the Tri-City Y’s, had a weekly radio program over the local radio station and was one of the outstanding men connected with the YMCA’s in the Leaksville-Spray area. He was also much in demand as a speaker for various occasions. Edenton Group Attends District Masonic Meet Seven Edenton Masons attended the First District Masonic meeting held in Hertford Friday night. The meet ing was preceeded by a barbecue and Brunswick stew dinner served in the Perquimans County High School. Over 100 Masons attended the meet ing, which was presided over by W. M. Smith of Elizabeth City, deputy Grand Master of the First District. The Edenton group comprised Richard P. Baer, IT, H. A. Campen, George Twiddy, Clarence M. Speight, Willard M. Rhoades, W. P.
