PAGE TEN BPW Card Party An Outstanding Affair So Successful It Is Plan ned to Hold Another Shortly One of the biggest affairs of the season was held in Edenton Tuesday night of last week when the Edenton Business and Professional Women’s Club staged a subscription game party that was attended by approximately 175 people. The party was held in the club’s new headquarters located at the Joseph Hewes Hotel, and was claimed to be such a huge success that plans are underway for having anoth er such party sometime in January. Proceeds from the event was estimat ed well over SIOO, which will go to ward purchasing new chairs for the club room. The club room was attractively dec orated with arrangements of beauti ful cut flowers and the guests were greeted at the door by Miss Lena Jones. Following termination of sev eral hours of enjoyable play, prizes were conveyed by trays to the individ ual tables where winners were privi leged to choose from any one of the attractively packaged gifts. Excellent prizes were offered by the club and many expressed hope that the organi zation would continue with a series of parties. Mrs. Ernest Kehayes drew the lucky door prize number and was awarded a home-made cake. Delightful refreshments of chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, home-made cake and Russian tea were served by the following club members: Mrs. Hazel Leary, Miss Inez Felton, Mrs. Adelaide Chesson, Miss Louise Smith, Miss Mary Lee Copeland, Mrs. Mildred Spruill, Mrs. W. L. Freeman, Miss Lena Jones, Miss Mildred Mun den, Miss Evelyn Leary, and Mrs. La la Smith, chairman of the party ar rangement committee. The club wishes to express its pro found appreciation to all who contrib uted toward making the party the success it was, and especially to the Williford and Ziegler Funeral Homes; the Edenton High School Band, Jos eph Hewes Hotel, Triangle Service Station and Mrs. Laura Harrell for use of chairs, and all others who pro vided tables and chairs; Ernest Ke hayes for floor fan; J. H. Conger, for table favors; donation of home-made cake by Mrs. Dick Leary for door prize, and Mrs. Edward Speight and Mrs. J. J. Long who also contributed cakes; Malone’s store and Hotel for use of China, Lula White Florist, Mrs. R. F. Tuttle for cash donations, and Percy Smith for use of truck and la bor. Miss Esther Hobowsky In Norfolk Hospital Miss Esther Hobowsky is a patient in the Norfolk General Hospital, where she underwent an operation Friday. Miss Hobowsky’s condition is reported very satisfactory and she is expected to be able to return home within a few days. STown Council Proceedings »c hi —ih —i »*« Edenton, N. C., Oct. 11, 1949.
