Donkey Ball Game fnds hi 3-3 Tie Score Edward Wozelka Keeps Spectators “Well In formed” Quite a few people were on hand at Hicks Field Tuesday night to wit ness the donkey baseball game played by members of the Edenton Lions Club. As was expected, those who at tended enjoyed many laughs, with the two teams captained by Coach George Thompson and Cecil Fry playing a tie game with a 3-3 score. While Ernest Ward, attired in an “official” umpire’s outfit, was behind the plate to call plays, spectators were kept “accurately” informed by Ed ward Wozelka over the loud speaker system. Decisions for the most part did not correspond, but about the only arguments during the game were be tween Lions and the donkeys. The arguments were very one-sided, for in every instance the donkeys had their way. There was an element of importance in the game, for one donkey threw Earl Harrell off his back and tem porarily knocked the breath out of HarreH, but the donkey was allowed to remain in the game despite his unsportsmanship. Several non-Lions were called in as utility players, with Shorty Minshew and Hawk Crummey giving the spectators a fine perform ance at trying to ride a donkey.
