To help you keep Christmas merry, the National Board of Fire Underwrit ers offers these safey rules for in installing and decorating your Christ mas trees: 1. Do not, under any circumstances, use cotton or paper on the tree or around the tree for decoration. 4. Do not place electric trains around the tree. 5. Use electric lights for illumina tion. Never use candles. See that all wires are in good condition. Use Christmas tree lighting outfits which have been tested by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. These can be ident ified by a tag bearing the name of Underwriters’ Laboratories, Inc., at tached to the wires. 6. Do not plug or unplug the elec tric cords beneath the tree. Provide a switch some distance from the tree to turn the light off or on. 7. Do not leave lights burning when no one is in the house. From time to time inspect the tree to see whether any needles near the lights have start ed to turn brown. If so, change the position of the lights. 8. When the needles start falling, take the tree down and discard it. 390 Take Part In Skeet Club Shoot Affair Forced to Be Postponed Due to Sleet and Snow Chowan County’s Skeet Club held another successful turkey shoot Fri day at the sk e et range near the U. S. Fish Hatchery, when 390 persons took part. Twenty shooters went away with a Christmas trukey. While officials were delighted with the num ber participating, it is the belief that many more would have taken part if the shoot could have been held Thurs day. The shoot was scheduled to be held Thursday, but it was postponed until Friday due to snow and sleet. Winning two turkeys each in Fri day’s shoot were H. G. Evans, P. G. Perry and J. H. Conger. Mrs. Wilie O’Neal was in charge of the entertainment, Mrs. Sam Allen supervised the refreshments and Mrs. Erie Haste had charge of the decora tions. It was the first social affair of the new organization, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who at tended.
