Made Privott
to another Senior biography.
The next one is that of Mack
“Harvel” Privott, who was bom on
November 18, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs.
G. H. Privott. His first six and one
half years of school were spent at
Chowan school. During his four
years here in high school he has been
active in just about all the extra cur
ricular activities that Edenton has to
offer. Among these are the band,
the Glee Club and the Student Coun
cil. During his Junior and Senior
years he has been an outstanding
player on both the football and base
ball teams. He has won the Varsity
Club trophy for being the most out
> standing football player for the last
two years. Mack’s friendly and pleas
ing personality has enabled him to
make friends with most anyone he
meets and also to be elected to many
.positions in his classes and the vari
ous clubs of which he is a member.
Outside school, Mack’s time is well
occupied with his part-time job at
Campen’s and pursuing his interests
which include movies, all sports, eat
ing, and dancing. As for the future,
he is interested in studying physical
education, but hasn’t as yet decided on
what college he would like to attend.
If Mack does as well in the future
as he has in the past, we are sure
that Fate will have much success in
store for any of his endeavors.
The Honor Roll for the past month
is as follows:
Donald Campbell, Charlie Cannan,
■Carlton Jackson, Dorothy Baker, Bet
ty Byrum, Virginia Copeland, Hazel
Leary, Betty Letcher and Peggy Wil
liams.
Someone has said that you can shear
a sheep any number of times but you
can skin him only once.

Hi Friends: After such a nice trip last Thursday <
the Seniors should be ready to settle back down to i
work once again. Though we did not visit all the J
places listed on our itinerary; we did visit the State !
Capitol building, State Prison and Wake Forest We
were also very pleased to meet Secretary of State l
Thad Eure. As a whole the trip was a most enoy- <
able one.
Now, as is the habitual course of action, we will Jj
proceed with our weekly biographies. The first is
that of Pearl Elberta Halsey, who is the oldest daugh- '
ter of Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Halsey, Jr. Pearl has not ■
always attended Edenton school. She previously ait- 1
tended Chowan school until she joined us here in her J
freshman year. While here, she has participated in \
such extra curricular activities as the 4-IH Club, the
band, the EHA, the Glee Club, and is a member of 1
.the Spotlight staff and also the Annual staff this ■
year. Singing, typing, sports, shows, music, sewing, !
cooking and other forms of housekeeping are her in- ‘
terests outside school. I
Like many of the other Senior girls, Peart is also !
engaged. Her immediate future plans are to marry 1
Durwood Barber sometime in July. Her favorite
pastime is doing needlwork, with which she is filling '
her hope chest. We’ll leave Pearl now with the best ’
of wishes for a long and happy marriage, and go on ,
