PAGE FOUR Pig Demonstrations In Chowan County Results Are Gratifying In Other Counties Instate J. K. Butler, Jr., Extension Animal Husbandry specialist, of State Col lege, is conducting Several experiments throughout the State in feeding pigs on Vitamin 812 and other Anti-©iodic Concentrates. On Saturday morning Mr. Butler mixed 3,000 pounds of feed which is to be used in the test in Chowan County. Home Feed & Fertilizer Company in Edenton mixed the concentrates for Mr. IButler. Pig Feeding demonstrations will he con ducted with John and Will Bunch, of (Route 1, Edenton, and also Carroll and Fahey Byrum, of 'Route 1, Eden ton. In these tests, 16 pigs of exactly the same age will be fed out from weaning age to market size. Eight of the pigs at each test will be fed with out the Anti-'Biodic material added. Mr. Butler has gotten excellent re sults from similar feeding experiments in other counties and it will 'be in teresting to note the results of same from such demonstrations in Chowan County. County 4-H Council Discusses Activities Chowan 4-H Counity Council held its regular meeting on Wednesday night, April 25, at the Chowan Community Building, Cross Roads. Eighteen 4-H Club members were present. Sum mer activities such as 4-H camp, 4-H Week, Wildlife Camp, and Forestry Camp were discussed. Club members were urged to keep their project rec ord books filled" out neatly and com pletely. After the meeting was over the club members present enjoyed in door recreation. EARL JORDAN COMPLETES ARMY MEDICAL TRAINING iPrivaite Earl V. Jordadn, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Jordan of Hyland, will graduate from the Medical Replace ment Training Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, IFort Sam Houston, Texas. He has completed eight weeks of training in medical subjects and will now be assigned to advanced study in another Army school or to duty in a hospital or field medical unit. The Medical Replacement Training Center is one of the Army’s basic training schools for the medical ser vice enlisted man. Here the soldier learns the fundamentals of medical support of patients in hospitals and troops in the field.
