PAGE TEN Harry Pleased With Action Taken For Payments On Cars Congress Is Commended For New Credit Controls “Under the provisions of the amend ed Defense Production Act, the time for completing payments on the un paid balance for new and used cars has been increased from 15 to 18 months, enabling many wage earners once again to acquire the dependable cars they need,” William T. Harry, Area Chairman of the North Caro lina Automobile Dealers Association, sqys. “Congress should be commended for making automobile credit controls more realistic,” Mr. Harry added. “The nation’s economy will benefit from the removal of the drastic terms which were seriously affecting our industry and, as a result, employment and national economy. Our economic state is such that you cannot put crippling curbs on the nation’s sec ond largest industry without adverse ly affecting other industries. “Under the new credit curb limita tion, for which our State and National organizations fought successfully on behalf of the nation’s motorists, many in the lower income group will be able to buy replacements for their pre war cars.” Mr. Harry stated further that thou sands of these pre-war cars have been kept in service through necessity even though they were no longer eco nomical to operate, and in some cases, are difficult to keep in safe operat ing condition. Supplies of good automobiles, both new and late model used cars, are sufficient to meet all immediate needs.” Mr. Harrv estimated. “The ueeus, AUI , nanjr -a-**-** I ra _ u^j _ | _ n _ n _ riJ _ u _ un _ n _ J1- ru - u - u - u - u - u - u^^ I BdfcTvlers E “ N -?.
