|! With less than a minute to go, 1
(Milan Stilley cracked through the
1 stubborn Hertford line from the five
,yard line for a touchdown.
| During the march for a touchdown
fans had gathered in the end zone and
jßeferee Dutch Overton blew his]
> whistle so the crowd could be moved. J
A protest went up from the Hertford
officials and fans, who claimed the
Aces were allowed an extra down.
The Aces looked strong at the out
set, but the Indians strengthened and
stopped several Edenton threats. i
Edenton’s first touchdown came as- ]
ter the Indians fumbled on their own
30 and Rogerson snagged a pass from j
Holland and raced to the 10. Stilley'
went over to score and Rogerson!
kicked the extra point.
The Aces’ second touchdown was
made early in the third quarter when ]
, Harrison, Wright and Stolley lugged
the ball for three first downs to the j
5, from where Wright crashed over the j
line. This try for extra point failed, 1
putting the Aces out in front 13-0. |
The Indians then capitalized on a
bad kick and after a few plays Paul
Mathews connected with Carver, who
raced for a touchdown.
The Indians tied the score late in
, fourth quarter when two passes from
Mathews to Carver clicked and Math
. ews made the extra point.
Tn the waning seconds the Aces
i pushed across the winning touchdown,
j The Aces led in first downs with 11
and four for Hertford. Edenton com-j
pleted five of nine passes for 75 yards i
and the Indians completed four out of
nine passes for 96 yards.

The recent automobile accident at
the corner of West Queen and Gran

record of having no fatalities thus far

fatality, but it was the first auto

According to Mack Rogerson, State

1954 are about half of what they were
last year. Patrolman Rogerson says l
