>—A PAGE TWO mnM w BROAD STREET BULLETIN -by - Kate Have faith in what you strive for And the will to see it through, But remember it takes courage— It all depends on you. It is so very easy to get discouraged when there’s so much competition and stumbling blocks. Patience is the key word and many of us do not learn to be patient until we get older. I suppose the key word, in stead of patience is “Stick - to-it-ive-ness.” Let me tell you one good way to "beat the heat”— go shopping in one of the cool, air-conditioned stores here in Edenton. Shop for your fall fashions it’s tun—with hot summer out side and autumn air in side. Believe, me, you’ll soon forget the 90-degrees in the shade —outside. An other thing, is that it helps, knowing that it won’t be long before you’ll be wear ing your new clothes in the coolness of fall If you’ve been in the vi cinity of St. Paul’s Church lately and if you’ll use your Imagination, when you see the lovely white crape myrtles, flanked on each side with the shades of pink crape myrtles, you will think of a beautiful bride in white with her attendants dressed in vari ous shades of pink. Mrs. Lloyd Griffin told me about this scene and be lieve me it is truly lovely. Another example of God’s handicraft and FOR FREE! As usual, her cheerful notes are some thing to look forward to, but best of all, she’ll be home again real soon. When someone is especi ally courteous to you, you can’t help remembering how nice it was to have someone to take time to be considerate in such a busy world. While shopping one day this week in a super market, I was in all kinds of a hurry, with several packages of frozen food in my hand, and the lines of the check-out counters long, when someone said, "Here, get in front of me, I’m in no hurry.” It was Peggy Benson (Mrs. Chuck) who was so gracious, per haps a small thing to her, but it meant a lot to me. Thanks again, Peggy I can’t help it, I just can’t pass a baby by with out taking a look and en joying their sweetness for a minute. This past week I saw Margaret Smithson (Mrs. Rufus) carrying her tiny grandchild and it made me quite envious. And Mrs. Smithson didn’t look at all like a grand mother, neat as a pin, after having attended summer school all day at Green ville—in this hot weather— whew! Another proud grandmother was Elsie Lee from over Merry Hill way—her blue-eyed grand son is a beautiful baby.
