Edenton-Chowan County Rescue Squad Municipal Building Edenton, N. C. 27932 •Dear Mr. Roberson: It has been brought to my attention that members of your organization conducted a search which successfully cul minated in the rescue of two coast guardsmen who became stranded on a buoy they were servicing when their boat drifted away in high winds on the afternoon of 15 April, 1970. The situation could have been a lot more serious in that both men were lightly clad when the incident oc curred, and darkness was fast approaching, with tempera tures in the Dow 40’s, winds 25 to 30 miles an hour, and visability extremely limited. Please express my sincerest appreciation to everyone who participated in the execution of this mission which reflect ed so favorably upon not only those individuals directly in volved, but also the entire community of Edenton, N.
