They went to the Morehead Planetarium to see a Christmas program. Christmas is coming up and all of the students are getting ready to decorate. The Chargerettes majorettes from the third, fourth, and fifth grades will be in the Hertford, Elizabeth City and Edenton parades. Some of the first and second grades are going to be on a Christmas float. They are all looking forward to the Christmas parade on Thursday. The third grade is making Christmas presents and writing letters to Santa. A student of the fourth Grade Cathy Bateman took a trip to New York during the Thanksgiving holidays. The students of her class were very enthused over her trip. The Fifth Grade is planning a trip to the nursing home, and is busy fixing their bulletin boards for Christmas. The six graders are making projects on the middle East. The eighth graders are making starts for their Christmas decorations. And the 10th Grade put out our first school paper. Continental Army Band will continue its currect tour of free public per formances when it appears in concert at College of Albs marie Gym, Thursday at 8 PJif. Tbe Band’s performance in Elizabeth City is sponsored by College of the Albemarle and is free of charge to students, faculty, and the general public. The U. S. Continental Army Band is an official touring musical organization sponsored by the United States Army. Throughout its lengthy history, the band has traditionally supported the official military functions of the United States Continental Army Command at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Not the typical martial band, the U. S. Continental Army Band’s concerts include compositions of famous composers, popular melodies and the stirring strains of fine band music. The CONARC Band was created in 1945 as the 50th Army Ground Forces Band at Camp Pickett, Va. Adapted by the United States Continental Army Command as its official musical. representative, the band has operated for years in the dual capacity as both 50th Army Band and the United States Continental Army Band. This ultimately led to the change in name when, in 1972, the band was renamed the United States Continental Army Band and delcared the official touring representative of the Con tinental Army Command. As a recent addition to the Army’s family of touring musicians, the U. S. Continental Army Band has performed a limited number of nation-wide tours which gives the members of your community the possibility of hearing this fine musical organization in your area for the first time. Seasonal concerts at the home station of Ft. Monroe, Va., draw crowds numbering in the thousands, especially during the summer “Music Under the Stars” series and the annual “Fourth of July Spectacular”.
