Christmas Seal, join -hands in the official opening of the 69th annual Christmas Seal Campaign. Art Show Starts Campaign Talented children from all over America join singer Vikki Carr in Washington, D. C., to open an unusual art show that will launch the 1975 Christmas Seal campaign against lung diseases. Lorey H. White, Jr., executive director of the Eastern Lung Association, said, “For the first time in nearly seven decades, children-’s art is reproduced on the traditional Christmas Seals.” This year there are 54 seals created by children in the elementary grades from each state in the country plus four U. S. Territories. The child created Christmas Seals are being mailed nationwide to more than 60-million homes and businesses as part of the annual Christmas Seal appeal for funds to prevent and control tuberculosis, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and other lung crippling diseases. White of the Eastern Lung Association explained that the young artists who designed this year’s Christmas Seals will have the honor of joining a select group of artists whose work has been exhibited in a major gallery. The 54 original children’s Christmas Seal paintings will occupy the “Discover” gallery at the National Collection of Fine Arts in Washington, D. C., and will be on display to the public through January. The white dove of peace designed by Robert Fields of Asheville unites with the red double-barred cross to. form a symbol of peace, brotherly understanding, and hope for those with lung disease. White pointed out that each sheet of seals bears the heading, “Christmas Seal Greetings from the Children FREEZONE IS FOR CORNS THAT HURT.
