Page 4-B I % Sharon G. Noblitt New Director Assumes Post A new director of cooperative education has been employed at College of The Albemarle. Norman L. Norfleet, dean of in struction, said Sharon G. Noblitt has filled the vacancy created by the October 1 resignation of Lu Ann S. Chappell. Noblitt, who assumed the duties of director in late October, is a Perquimans County native. She earned her bachelor and master of science degrees from East Carolina Univesity. She worked as a home economics extension agent in Camden County from July, 1972 until November, 1974. Moving to Kinston, she was employed as a restaurant manager. She later became assistant manager of the Kinston Country Club. Prior to joining the staff at COA, she served as assistant manager of the Vicki Villa Restaurant in Elizabeth City. Norfleet said the basic mission of the Co-op Education program at COA is to provide the student with practical, relative experience in his or her chosen field of study. He explained that the success of the program is in terdependent upon a close relationship between em ployers, students, and the college. Last year, 53 area businesses employed 78 students. One of Noblitt’s goals will be to increase that number to 125 students, adding a proportionate number of participating businesses. Letter To The Editor The fine spirit of com munity support shown by area businesses which donated articles to the Rocky Hock Community Center Halloween Carnival 4s to be applauded. While the identities of the contributors are too numerous to mention here, their names were read and noted in last week’s community meeting. The Rocky Hock folks greatly appreciated these generous donations which were a causative factor in the carnival’s success. Sincerely, Carlton Nixon, Chairman Rocky Hock Community Center FFA Renovates Community Parks WINSTON-SALEM - More than 260 U.S. com munity parks were cleaned, developed, expanded or renovated this year by members of the Future Farmers of America. .
