Miller, member of the House of Delegates and a candidate for the Senate, Virginia General Assembly, will be the keynote speaker. Special music will be provided by the Edenton Community Male Chorus. An interesting program is planned, and all interested per sons are invited to attend. Assembly Held More than 1,400 Jehovah’s Witnesses and friends met this past weekend at the Williamston High School auditorium for their annual Circuit Assembly. The two-day program was designed to heighten their appreciation for the values found in the holy scrip tures. To that end, the talks and demonstrations seen by those in attendance developed the theme, “The Excelling Value of Serving Jehovah”. Expressions were made on the value of making a self-examination during youth and older years as to what motivates one in their service of the true God Jehovah. According to Fletcher Gardner, a local minister, “This resolve is most beneficial when it is made with a complete heart, thus enabl ing the person to display a reasonable spirit to all who observe his or her conduct.” He also pointed out that one of the highlights of the Assembly came on Saturday, as ten demonstrated their resolve to serve Jehovah by water baptism. Sunday afternoon’s high point was the Bible discourse, “The World’s Values or the Bible’s — Which?” Speaking on this topic was Paul Moske, a traveling overseer of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Moske and his wife, Peggy, are new to North Carolina, having served congregations in sixteen states, ranging from frigid Min nesota to the arid climate of Arizona. During his discourse, the values of the Bible and the world were distinguished for those in the au dience by identifying the goals associated with both sets of values in this modern world. He said that while it is a natural desire to achieve something worthwhile, we need to be sure that our goals will not lead to frustration.
