SPCA Footnotes: Good Choices Available I i Two very adoptable dogs featured this week are being kept either in a foster home or by the owner. "Lady" is a lovely, beige gold part Keeshound (pro nounced "caze-hawnd"), the national dog of Holland. Because of its smaller size, 17-18 inches at withers (the 1 highest point of the shoulders) it was used in earlier years as a barge dog up and down the Rhine River in the Nether lands. The Keeshound thus gained great popularity, both as a pet and a watch dog. It is definitely a companion dog, not a hunter. r While not a well-known breed in our country, the Keeshound is closely related to many familiar breeds such as the Chow Chow, Norwegian Elkhound, Samoyed, Spitz and the smaller Pomeranian. It has the same full ruff, well feathered, curled tail over its back, and "spectacles" (rings around the eyes) as many of these dogs mentioned. "Lady" has most of these features except that unlike the traditional wolf grey color with the outer coat black tipped, she is light in color. She is four to five years old, recently spayed and has had all the necessary shots. Be cause she is not a young adult, she will stay close to home, once assured of love and at tention, and will make a fine addition to any household. The other small, attractive dog has some Shetland Sheep dog blood. He is 18 months old and is an indoor, housebro ken pet. Because of the great energy which is characteris tic of this type dog, he would This adorable Keeshound can be your new pet if you call the SPCA right away! "Lady" is 4-5 years old, has been spayed, and has had all her shots. For details, call 482-8090. 1989 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JULY 17TH THRU 21ST FROM 9 A.M. -1 P.M.
