SOCIETY * Mrs . Hoover Entertains In Honor Of Mrs. Plonk Mrs W. A. Hoover entertained at her home last Wednesday with an afternoon coffee, honoring Mrs. George Plonk, wife of Dr. Plonk who has recently joined the staff of Petrie hospital. v Mrs W A Barber greeted the guests at the door and introduced them to the receiving line which was composed of Mrs. 'Hoover, Mrs. Plonk, Mrs. W. M. Elliott of For est City, sister of Mrs. Hoover, Mrs. Cecil Penland, Mrs. Worth Sharpe of Young Harris. Ga., Mrs. 'C O. Van Gorder of Andrews, Mrs. Jerry Davidson, Jr., Mrs. Howard Adair, Mrs. John Rodda and Mrs. John Ezzell of Andrews, Mrs. James Lewis, and Mrs. Russell L. Young. Guests were invited by Mrs. Wade Massey to the dining room, where Mrs. Frank Forsyth and Mrs. Robert Bault poured coffee from a table covered with a linen cloth and centered with a silver bowl of red roses and fern, with white candles in silver holders completing the table decorations. Mrs. Frank Ellis, Mrs. J. Alton Morris, and Mrs. J. B. Gray as sisted in the dining room, and Mrs. Peyton G. Ivie, Miss Elizabeth Gray. Miss Addie Leatherwood, Mrs. W. P. Odom. Mrs. C. E. Weir, Mrs. Walter Mauney, Mrs. L. T. Russell, and Miss Adella Meroney assisted in serving. Refreshments, carrying out the St. Patrick's Day motif, consisted of individual white cakes decorated Hit The Right Note! The home was lighted thiough out with white and yellow candles in silver candelabra. Huge bowls of jonquils and gladioli decorated the living room. Pine was used in the den, and red geraniums and palms were used in the back hall. Music was furnished throughout the afternoon by I\#rs. Duke Whit ley, Mrs. J. W. Davidson and Mrs. C. W. Savage at the piano, and Mrs. Glenn Bates and Miss Emily Sword, vocalists. All those in the receiving line, and all who assisted in entertain- . ing wore evening dresses, and were presented corsages by Mrs. Hoov er. More than 300 guests were in vited. Katharyn Howell Becomes Bride Of C. J. Monteith Miss Katharyn Howell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Howell of Murphy, and Claude J. Monteith, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mon teith of Ranger, were married Sunday afternoon, March 2, at the Baptist parsonage here, with the Rev. J. Alton Morris, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. The double ring ceremony was used. Miss Grace Ramsey served as maid of honor, and Marvin Hamp ton of Blue Ridge, Ga., was best man. Other attendants at the wed ding were Miss Dorothy Monteith. sister of the bridegroom, Charles 1 Shytle. Mr. and Mrs. Richard How ill and Mr. and Mrs. Billy King Howell, brothers and sister-in-law of the bride. The bride wore a light blue I wool dressmaker suit with winter white and black accessories, and a purple orchid corsage. The maid of honor wore a black ' mid white wool jersey dress with , black accessories, and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs Monteith is a graduate of , Murphy hgih school. Guests attending were Mrs. Barney Andrews, Mrs. Mar shall Allen, Mrs. Georgia Voyles, Mrs. Oneta Andrews, Mrs. Janey Roberts, Mrs. Lee Ledford, and the Misses Mary Hamby, Effie Led ford, Buna Williamson, Dorotha Mao Hamby. Ethel EUer, Edith Keid, Polly Garrett, and Callie Hamby. After playing several games the honoree was presented many gifts. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Oneta Andrews, assisted by Mrs. Lyda Andrews. Mrs. Young Is WSCS Hostess The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service met Tuesday after noon with Mrs. Russell L. Young phy high cshool. He received his discharge in December from the army where he served 13 months, seven of which were spent in Hawaii. He is employed with Hampton Hardware company here. Mr. and Mrs. Monteith are oc cupying an apartment in the home of Mrs. Edwina Hagaman. BRIDE ? . Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kilpatrick of Andrews have just announced the marriage of their daughter, Lou Ellen, above, to Fred W. Kilpatrick, Jr., son of Mr and Mrs. F. W. Kilpatrick of Mur phy on December 21 at Blairsville. Ga. Mr. Kilpatrick was a graduate of Murphy high school and was employed with Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Atlanta until his entrance in the U. S. Army. at the parsonage. Mrs. W. P. Odom, Mrs. B. L. Padgett and Mrs J. M. Hughes served as associate hostesses. The meeting was opened with prayer by Mrs. Young. Mrs. J. H. | Hampton, president, presided over | the business session at which time j il was decided to have a pot luck ' dinner at the church on Tuesday the 18th and pack a box to send to Poland, and begin the mission study book. The program was presented by Mrs. W. A. Hoover and Mrs. D. E. Sigmon. Mrs. Hoover gave the ('evotional on 'Thou Art Our Father", and Mrs. Roy Styles gave I the responses. Mrs. Sigmon gave an interesting discussion on "Chil dren and Their Church." The meeting was closed with the Lord's prayer in unison, following which the hostesses served a de- 1 licious salad course to 14 members ' and two visitors, Mrs. E. C. Sulli van and Mrs. G. M. Fleming. Mrs. J. H. Wilson returned last 1 week from Chattan ;oga where sh?* j has been with her daughters for I the last several minths.
