Junior Club Has
Annual Banquet
The Murphy Junior Woman's ;
club held its annual Christmas
dinner meeting Thursday night at
Puke's lodge. Fifty persons, in
cluding husbands and friends of
the members, were in attendance.
A turkey dinner with all the "fix
in y was served.
The banquet table was decorat
ed with red candles banked in hol

candy with Christmas tags were

In The Ray Home |
Mrs. J. W. Davidson and Mrs.
Joe E. Hay were hostesses in the
latter's home Friday evening at
the Christmas program of the
Business Woman's circle of First
Baptist church. The home was
decorated with Christmas decora
tions, including a Christmas tree,
under which the members placed
gifts as they arrived.
Mrs. It. D. Chandler was in
charge of the program, which was
entitled, "The First Christmas
Mrs. Chandler read the scripture
and Mrs. J. J. Hamilton told the
story of "The First Christmas".
Christmas carols were sung.
The hostesses served molded ice
cream, homemade cake and cof
fee.
Plans were made for sending
gifts to a family in Germany that
the B W. C. has adopted, and the
following were appointed by Mrs.
John Donley, president, to serve
on the committee: Miss Addie Mae
Cooke. Mrs. J. J. Hamilton and
Mrs. Hoy Lovingood.

The lunchroom, which is manag

been decorated with paintings
done by Miss Addie Leatherwood's
and John Jordan's seventh grad
ers. A Christmas tree stood at one
end of the room.

die Mae Cooke were guests at
this Christmas party.

Auxiliary Hostess
Mrs. Ben Vaught was hostess for
the annual Christmas party of the
Fresbyterian Woman's auxiliary at
her home Friday afternoon.
The meeting was opened with
prayer by the president, Mrs. Ed
Brumby, and "A White Christmas"
was sung by Mary Bolan Brumby,
Carolyn Alexander and Carol Sue
Vaught with Mrs. Vaught at the
piano.
A short business session was
held and the .Joy Gift" offering
for Ministerial Relief was receiv
ed. 11 was voted to send a Christ
mas basket to a needy family.
Mrs. Brumby read a story,
"Seeking a Gift", by Zelia Mar
garet Walters. A contest, "Christ
mas Nuts to Crack" was held.
