Model Milers Are Selecting Contest Sites J. B. Verncr, TV A Landscape Engineer, met with the Home Demonstration clubs of Peacbtree. Sunny Point and Suit on Friday. The clubs will each be entrants in the Mlodel Mile contest of the 1861 season. Proposed sites were in spected, and Mr. Verner aided the dubs in deciding between possible sites, and problem spots were pointed - out. He discussed the treatment best for such spots and made sketches suggestion solu tions. Mr. Verner advocated use of native shrubbery principally. Spots discussed included school and Church locations, and the land surrounding the church. In cer tain Oases, especially around build ings, Mr. Verner leans to the use of nursery Shrubs rather than ad hering rigidly to the native species The Peaobtree club has under consideration developing a picnic site with its adjuncts. Stewart Fatally Injured At Oak Ridge Robert H. (Happy) Stewart, 54, vvas fatally injured at Oak Ridge Lenn.. Thursday, March 8. A heavy ohain struck him on the head about 3:30 p. m. He died at ?:00 p. m. He had been engaged in placing a heavy piece of elec trical equipment when the acci dent occurred. Funeral services were held at * p. m. Sunday in First Baptist Church here. The Rev. J. Alton Morris offi ciated, and burial was ih Tbmotla Cemetery with Townaon Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Garnett Owenby, V. M. Sells, M. L. W? Ikrms. Richard Howell, Frank Stal cup, and Dr. George Dyer. Flower girls were: Mis. Garnet Owenby, Mrs V. M. Sella, Mrs. Ben Miami, Mrs. M. L. Williams, and Mrs. Richard Htowell His brothers and Mrs. Stewart's brothers were honorary pallbear ers. An electrician, Mr. Stewart had 1'ved in Cherokee County for 30 years, and was employed with the electric department several years age. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Maggie Oorrawell Stewart: five brothers, W. A. Stewart and J. B. Stewart of Knoxville, Tenn., George Stewart of Loudon Tenn., Charlie Stewart of Montgomery, Ala., and Lee Stewart of Des Moines.
