Salute to 'Strike at the Wind!' aaucceae... In spite of the rain PEMBROKE-Said Carnell Locklear. general manager of 'Strike at the Wind!', "It was a success...in spite of the rain." And it was. Estimates vary because a lot of money is still out from people who have not settled up with us. But we expect-to clear something over two thousand dollars. That is down considerably from our sunny projections of S7.S00 but nothing to sneeze about when you consider that it rained intermittently throughout the day. Here is a pictorial view of the day and night that we billed "A Salute to 'Strike at the Wind!" THANKS! Thanks to all of you who helped in anyway. We are grateful for your support of 'Strike at the Wind!' I believe 'Strike at the Wind!' is worthy of our support. The drama has added immeasurably to our cultural expression. As soon as all the monies are in and accounted for we will publish a complete listing of our receipts., and expen ditures. Thanks again! "? \ letters to the editor ... IT7 T" -g '-JT "T. An Explanation from Pembroke High's Graduating Class of '81 To whom it may Concern: It has been brought to the attention of the Senior Class Officers for the 1981 Pem broke Senior High School Graduating Class, that an action which occurred on our Graduation Night was viewed by the public as being some what disrespectful. We are endeavoring to settle this turmoil. The throwing of our caps was done as a finale to a rather stupendous occasion -our successful completion of twelve years of schooling. In the emotion of the moment, we, the class members, chose this type of action as a means of saluting ourselves as well as the fantastic administration at Pembroke Senior High. We. the Class of 1981, ^ would like to thank the faculty I and staff of Pembroke Senior ' High for their support during our senior year, and we'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge them as being the greatest. In conclusion, we would like to wish the Pembroke Senior High School Senior Class of 1982 the best of luck and we hope that you will have a successful senior year. * With Greatest Admiration, The 1981 Graduating Class of Pembroke Senior High School Submitted by: The Gass Officers One of the outstanding gospel groups who participat ed In the gospel sing Friday night was the DAL Gospel Singing Indians. Answer: You should get tests to determine how well you see at far and near distances; whether or not vision problems like near sightedness. farsightedness or astigmatism are hampering your ability to see; how well your eyes work together as a team; and how well you can change focus from near to far and vice versa. You should also get eye health tests, including one for glaucoma, if you are over 35 or have a family history of this disease. The doctor of opto metry many times can also detect the signs of general health problems like high blood pressure and diabetes. There may be other tests, depending upon the results of the basic examination. Expect all of this to take from 30 to 60 minutes and be prepared to discuss your general health history. Eye Openers were prepared by The American Optometric Association. Dr. John Adams and Dr. Harold Herring of Pembroke Optometric Clinic have edited and submitted these columns as a service to the citizens of the Pembroke area. The Carolina Indian Voice is pleased to print this column as a public service.
