The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service is seeking applica tions for an Area Commercial Horti culture position in Columbus, Brunswick, and Robeson counties. Headquarters for the position will be expected to address issues and con cerns of commercial growers, opera- \ tors, and marketing outlets. Market ing opportunities and alternative en terprises will be topics for program development as will production systems, plasticulture, post harvest handling and other management operations. Agriculture in this tri-county area is diverse, with the major horticulture crops being sweet potatoes, cucum bers, cabbage and strawberries. This individual will need to be a self starter as well as a self-motivated person who can develop, deliver and evaluate programs with a minimum of supervision. A Bachelor's degree and or a Master's degree in horticul ture is required. Extension experi ence is required. This position calls for an individual who is energetic, people orientated, willing to work in a team environment, able to manage multiple priorities and multiple de mands on his/her time, comfortable with diversity, and experienced work ing with other groups and organiza tions.
