Naval Administration Placed On Defensive In Booze Probe Annapolis, Md, Dec. 1. The ad ministration of the -Naval academy today was virtually placed on the defensive by tbe board of Inquiry Investigating the charges of drinking and revelry among midshipmen after the football game at Philadelphia last Saturday. After Rear Admiral Henry B. Wll aon, superintendent of tho academy, had testified as the first witness called before the board. Rear Admiral Aahley H. Robertson, presiding, in formed him that he was in the posi tion of an Interested party to the pro ceedings and waa therefore entitled to be present at the sessions and be repreeentd by counsel. Admiral Wilson staled his duties would not permit his regular attend ance, but that he would be represent ed by Captain John J. lialligan and Lieutenant M. 8. Tlsdnle, both at tached to this station. The order of Secretary Denby de signating the hoard of Inquiry direct ed it to "determlno and fix the re sponsibility for the lack of super vision over the midshipmen's ball at Philadelphia on the evening of No vember !5, 1922." Jack Durham, a Snow Hill man, will be tried here on charges growing out of a collision on a road a short distance north of this city Tuesday' night, the police stated toduy. A touring car crashed Into, a tinsmith's truck In the dark ness. The car was wrscleed. Per sons on the truck said tie one occu pant, the driver, fled. A quantity of whisky was said to have been found In the car. A bank bonk left in the car bora Durham's name, and the machine waa found to have been registered In hla name at Raleigh.
