SO that laat prices were at net losses on the session of but eight to 14 points, January clos Ing at 21.37. i - In the early trading there was considerable Irregularity, tha first downward movement amounting to eight to 23 points. Poor cables helped to cauee lower opening but most of the selling was due to a desire for profits on tne part or tracers on the long side. By noon the market- had made Its low levels for the day, selling being Increased by rumors received by local brokerage houses that a part of the British fleet had been ordered to Constantinople. At th lowest January traded at 28.20 and here the list stood at declines of 24 to 32 points. New buying came Into the market in the afternoon because of reports of a continued strong spot situation and small upturns resulted. Bearish news had no great effect and cable grams from Liverpool to local con cerns stating that most Lancashire mills would be closed for a whole week sround New Year did not re sult In much selling although they caused much comment.
