The board declared that Sen. John McClellan's investigation of uprisings in U.S. cities is becoming like those of the House Un-Ameri can Activities Committee (HUAC) and the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee (SISS), headed by Sea James Eastland of Mississippi. The board noted that HUAC and SISS seek to find scapegoats to blame for problems instead of look ing for the real causes and cures. It was especially critical of East land's announced plan to investi gate the MFDP and the National Conference for New Politics (NCNP). SCEF affirmed it* op position td the war in Vietnam and criticized government officials for changing the draft status of young men who protest against the war. Lincoln Hospital is in dire need of $103,000 immediately, , meet an emergency arising out of services-tendered the sick of this community over the years with- " out being fully compensated. Those who have been humane enough to extend credit to Lincoln Hospital over the years for equipment, supplies, etc. should not have to suffer the penalty of taking the loss alone. 1 have agreed to serve as General Chairman of the Campaign not because I am in favor of or opposed to Lincoln Hospital's being maintained as a separate insti tution. This effort, and the support of it, has nothing to do with that issue. This is an emergency and deserves the community's support for what Lincoln has meant to the sick of this community over a period of more than 60 years. This is a time when we are being called upon to give until it hurts—to make a sacrificial offering. If we will do this, we will feel greatly refreshed after the pain has passed, and Christmas will be much more meaningful. Will yOu Help? If the spirit of Christ and your interest i n the needs of humanity move you to help in this cause, make your check for as much as possible to "Lincoln Hospital Cam paign Fund" and mail today to 411 W.
