lation and plans for the second
Super Jet Market in Baltimore,
Maryland was announced to
day by Herman T. Smith, Pre
sident and Chairman of the
Board of Jet Food Corporation
of Baltimore.
The Baltimore firm, Monu
mental Foods, Inc. is headed
by Rev. Frank L. Williams,
Pastor of Metropolitan Metho
dist Church and President of
the Interdenominational Minis
terial Alliance, Rev. Robert
Newbold is Chairman of the
Board. Its operating and orga
nizing Board of Directors is
composed of some of the lead
ing Negro ministers in the City
of Baltimore.

a press conference attended by
Smith, Rev. Williams, the mi
nisters, other Jet Food Officers
and representatives of F. A.&S.
Small Company of York,
Penn., suppliers of the pro
posed store.
In making the announce
ment, Smith said, "I am
pleased to welcome Monu
mental Foods, Inc. into the
Jet Food franchise family."

facilities have formed groups
to operate and own these su
permarkets, this is the third
to have involved as many im
portant ministers in the com
munity in this exciting ven
ture."

Mrs. C. Ruth Edwards retired
from tߧ\ North Carolina Col
lege faculty in 1957 after M
years as a colleg teacher of
voice. Today she is still teach
ing—in Mysore, India.
After her official retirement,
Mrs. Edwards divided her time
between nursery school teach
ing in Durham and visits with
her son and his family in
Greensboro.
In 1967, when her son, Dr.
Gerald Edwards, went to India
aa a Consultant in the Physi
cal Sciences in the Ohio State
University lndia Education
Project, sponsored by the
Agency for International De
velopment, he took his mother
along.
While Dr. Edwards, chair
man of the department of
Chemistry at AAT University,
was busy with his work, his
mother looked for something
to occupy her time. She found
just the thing—a job as a music
teacher in a Mysore elementary
school. She teaches Indian
children the songs loved by
American youngsters.
Mrs. Edwards holds the Mas
ter of Arts degree from Teach
ers College, Columbia Univer
sity, with a major in voice an 3
music education. She is a char
ter member of the North Caro
lina chapter of the National
