A POTPOURRI OF RECENT EVENTS THE WATSON FAMILY- By George B. Russ The Rev. Mack Timber lake, pastor of First Baptist Church, Creedmoore, choirs and congregation crowned the Union Baptist Tots Choir 12th anniversary observance with heartwarming success. The young minister, seem ingly, not much older than some of the older Tots, preached a beautiful anniver sary message especially designed for the younger set. Following his highly inspira tional vesper-sermon, the tall, handsome, white robed minis ter played and sang a popular gospel song entitled. "I'm Going Through." Mrs. Mary Brewington, Union Baptist's beautiful lyric soprano, a former mem ber of First Baptist Church, gave a colorful highly infor mative introduction to the minister. The affable Mrs. Brewington, is using her professional skills in directing the Tots Choir. Lisa, the 2nd runner up in the Miss or Mr. Totts Choir Contest, is the daughter of the charming artists, Mrs. Brewington. June 20th is Father's Day. W. P. Edwards, long time popular leader of "church-affairs" pertaining to the male congregation, is Father's Day chairman. Plans are underway to make Father's Day, 1976, the great jest ever. LThe music students of rs. Willa Farmer will be pre sented in concert Wednesday, June 2 at 8 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. The public is invited. The Family-of-the Month is that of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Glenn; presently, residents of Mebane. During the 1976 Spring Revival, at Union Bap tist, "the Watson family" played a tremendous role in the evangelistic aspect of the week long service?'The five pretty daughter's of the Glenn family are the children of Mrs. Ella Frances Glenn by a former marriage. ' united In Christian love in the family that one sees only the father head as being the true father. Prior to the May Revival, Mr, and Mrs. Glenn : and the eldest daughter, Miss ! Kay Watson, ,24, a Patient -? Accounts Clerk IV at Duke Hospital, were members of : Union. Baptist. However, much discussion had taken place in the home, between the children themselves, about their nonmembership to the church in which "mother and daddy" were identified. This attitude naturally remove! some of the stigma of the description to the "modern home;" that, "the modern home is like a filling station by day and a . parking lot by night." Miss Denise Watson, 22, a beautiful young woman, secretary at Carmichael Audi torium, joined Union "under Christian experience" early in the week of the revival. Tammy Watson 17 a student at Orange High School, became a candidate for baptism. Parents, guardians or a friend usually accompany the neophte. On the second time around Dr. Grady Davis discovered that the Watson children were becoming in volved, so, he immediately, focussed the spotlight of the revival upon this family. By the end of the week, Ce'Vera Watson, IS, student at Stan ford Junior High School, and Jackie Watson, 10, a pupil at Efland Elementary School, had joined Union Baptist Church. This happy, well adjusted Christian family is taking its place in the church program. SAT., MAY 29, 1978 THE CAROLINA m?S-11 txm. Amman Academy of Family Dry W. T.
