A Friday reception was held to kick off the festivities. Aitwerk created by or inspired by women from the “Artful Women In Power Art Show” highlighted along with peiibrrnitlg Mists and a preview of work from “The Man Show” which will run throughout June. On Sai,. May 17. a Tribiute Program honoring the Artful Women in Power was held. Additionally, The Grandpar ent Network 0f Durham held a “Cribs for Kids” drive and collect new items for newborns. Among the honorees are: Community organizer Ann Atwater; artist and educator C. Omega Barnes; business Woman and philanthropist Lonna Harkrader;;community organizer and volunteer Barbara Lofton; educator and preacher Linda Kerr Norfleet; civil servant andicomniunity activist Yvonne Pena’; arts & community organizer Di anne Pledger; dance teacher and volunteer Kaye Sullivan; and business woman Julia Taylor were honored. The event was sponsored in part by Greenfire Development, the Grandparents Network of Durham, Durham P.irks and Recreation, The Carolina Times, Spectacular Magazine, the Durham Art Guild and Artful Greetings.
