Dr. Hampton, This individual has at last been overhauled in his, villiany. We take real, genuine pleasure in reproducing in our columns the following account oi it, w hich we clip from the Columbia Fhce- nix. During the latter part of last week, he stopped in Macon; and registered himself at the Drown House. As the hotel was crowded, and he seemed axlever enough sort of a person, a Mr. Secrit or Secres, of Kentucky, gave him a bed in his room. ext morning, Mr. S. found that his room mate had left suddenly, taking with him the confiding Kentuckian's watch and $15 or $20 in money. Col. Brown discovered a certain board bill unpaid. Hampton was arrested in Port Valley, brought to Macon and lodged in jail, to await trial. Entertainment In Statesville. The ladies of the Presbyterian Church in States ville, were to have given an entertainment last evening for the benefit of their church. The exercises were to consist of musical ,rformances bv Prof. Von Meyerhoff, of . fiu.AMt Vpnmld Institute, to be fol- tllV VI'"' w-v j lowed by Gov. The editor and local of the Obsebvek ten der their acknowledgments to the ladies for tickets of invitation, and deeply regret their inability to be present. Municipal Elections. Dyspepsia not only destroys health, but banishes happiness from the family. A Dyspeptic is not only unhappy himself, but he makes all around him unhappy. Dr. TuttWegetable Liver Pills isa certain remedy for it- They are a sure cure for costiveness. "The Ufe of the Flesh is the Blood." This is an admitted fact. It is obvious that when the blood becomes corrupt the whole system is corrupt also, and those or gans which are weaker from functional derangement will suffer most. The large majority of female diseases proceed from this cause. The true policy is to direct the remedy to the source Of the disease. It is in this way that Dr. Tutt's Sarsapariila and Queen's Delight acts. Its specific effect is on the blood. It purifies, vitalizes it, ex pelling all distemper from the system. Beware of Calomel. And all Mercurial Compounds. Better, far better, endure disease than tamper .with this mineral poison, no matter how care fully prepared. Its extensive use has al ready proven the cause of great and dis tressing injury. Dr. Tutt's Liver Pills can be taken at all times with perfect safety and without diet. Wake Up the System. When the physical energies droop arid the miftd becomes lethargic, it may be ta ken for granted that the digestion is im paired and the liver, derelkit in its duty the vigor of the body and the capacity for brain labor. ITIHE great aim of our House, since its A establishment, has been to make Char lotte a wholesale Mart, and ours THE HOUSE, and to conduct our business so as to outgrow the alleged and even accepted opinion of some that there is a kind of obloquy attached to them for buying in Charlotte ; and having, by the very great increase of our business, (since we remov ed to our new and elegant Store,) been convinced that we have partially succeeded in our cherished plan, we have concluded to endeavor to still further eradicate the erroneous idea, by presenting, this coming season to the Trade, a still Larger and better assorted Stock than even we ever offered before, so that Country Merchants will be able to nnd in our house not only all he needs but a very large stock to select from : thereby I eing enabled to operate with a much smaller capital than he can by buying in different houses North, where he must necessarily buy more goods than he actually needs in order to have an as sortment. In view of the foregoing, Mr. Rintels left on the 27th January, (much earlier than usual,) for Northern Markets and Manufacturing places, where he will re main two months in making our purchases, buying everything from first hands on the same terms as any Jobbing House in Bal timore, Philadelphia or New York ; and the assortment when thus completed will foot up in amount to upwards of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars. The expenses attached to carrying on a business here being much less than it would be in Northern Cities and haying a lower rate of freight than smaller shippers here, brings the fact patent that, We are in a position to successfully compete with any Jobbing House in the United States, and to the inspection of which we invite the Trade. We are pleased to state, to those unac quainted with our House, that we keep complete lines of Dry Ooods, Uroceries, Hardware, Clothing, Boots and Shoes, Notions, and even Millinery. Our Retail Department is complete, with the latest Novelties, and in bulk second to none in the City. Our Millinery Department willbe earned on as usual. Very Respectfully.
