The Superin tendent of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Great Western Railroad telegraphed from, Hoboken to President Sloan, that committee of 'engineers had wait-1 , ed on him to say they would go ' to work at once at the company's terms, providing the firemen be allowed to do the same, as soon as they could confer with the general committee, witn a proviso tnat tne company give them their old wages as soon as times get better, to which President ; Sloan agreed. - Supt Toney said to-day that all trains on the New York Centjal and Hudson. Harelton, Pa., July 27 The strike on the main line of the Lehigh Valley road yesterday, has resulted in a stop page of nearly all trains ' on the Hazel ton branch. Altoona, July 27. Harlranft with two large trains passed west. East Buffalo, N. Y., .July 27. Nothing definite as to the shipment of freight via the Lake Shore Railroad, can be gleaned. The live stock is re ported to be suffering at Callingwood, many of them dying from exposure to hot sun. No stock received Bince Mon- day over the Grand Trunk, Great West ern and Canada Southern Railroads, and nothing is reported as coming for ward. All the live stock was shipped away from here to-day. Galveston, July 27 The employees of the Texas Central Railroad at Corsi cana struck at. noon yesterday, and no treight trains were allowed to pass that point. The strikers are orderly but de termined Many of them have gone on the special police force and express a determination to protect life and pro perty. At a conference of train hands at Hearn last night an agreement was made to prevent the passage of freight trains and that none should be permit ted to interfere with railroad pro perty. Buffalo, 2 p. m., July27 .--Passenger traffic on all roads except the Canada Southern has been resumed. Freight trains on the New York Central, Erie and Ontario and some minor Hues are running on time. There is a complete blockade of freight traffic on the Lake Shore. Engineers refuse to run with green hands. r, Harrisburg, July 27. Freight trains are running east and west. . A num ber of hands have resumed work iu the railroad shops. . .. St Louk, July 27. The citizens be ing finally armed, equipped and organ ized, commenced werk at 12 o'clock. Companies, with breech-loadiDg. guns took various positions, uen ,rODie with four hundred men under Capt Silas Bent, marched to the Union de potjwhioh; the rioters virtually have held since Tuesday. The battalion dissolved into companies, loaded guns and chareed the ciowd with fixed bayonets, driving: them out of the de pot and yards.; The apparent leader was arrested. The authorities an nounce that the depot will be held and interference with trains there prevent-! ed. Guards will be furnished factories, the; proprietors of whieJa wish to resume work. The executive commit tee of the working men's party is in session at the corner of Fifth and Bid die streets, and a large crewd sur rounds the hall , but no orders have been issued. The committee have been teleeranhinsr to the leaders 01 the or ganization in other cities asking for advice. Many : of the large business houses which remain closed to day will ooen to-morrow. The president of the-Mechanic?-' Exchange has issued a notice that the Exchangewill resume business to-morrow. The streets are less : crowded and there is a general impression that the worst is over The Missouri Pacific road commenced running freight trains both ways, and announces that tha road is open for business. The St. Louis. Kansas City and Northern road has not yet decided whether it will follow. St Petersburg, July 27.-The official Messenger publishes the following dis patch : "An old merchant ship, the. Vesta, has had an engagement off Kus- tinji, lasting over five hours, with a Turkish monitor which fled; much damaged bj the Russian shells, one of which burst in her turret. The Vesta had her rudder injured and went to iSebastapol for repairs. Two officers and nine soldiers were, killed, and six officers, among them the Commodore, and seventeen sailors were wounded. One officer has since died. London, : July 27. A Reuter tele gram from Constantinople says : "The Shiek TJ1 Islaim has been dismissed. Great military activity prevails. Vol unteers are everywhere enrolling. Re cruiting booths have beeen established in various quarters of Constantinople. Parties of volunteers with bands and flags are parading the streets." .
