The Cabarrus Farmers' Institute ws held here to-day and was largely attended by the farmers, end their - wives, many of them bringing their entire fami lies. The men's department was ield t the county courthouse, while the part of the programme set apart for the women was held In the court room of the city hall. The morning sessions were devoted to a lecture by Dr. F. L. Stevens, of Lie A. & M. College on the subject, "Plant Dis eases and Spraying." and a very en tertaining talk by Miss Mae Card on the subject of cooking, the prepara tion of food. She also laid special stress ou the importance of all wo men being able to cook and familiar with domestic economy, making prac tical demonstrations. The afternoon sessions were occu pied by addresses by R. J. Redding, of Georgia, on corn culture; by J. A. Conover, of the UnlteJ States De partment of Agriculture, on farm dairying, followed by a cotton cul ture talk by Mr. Redding, While this was going on In the courthouse Mrs. W. R. Hollowell, of Ooldsboro, made talks on the necessity of the farmers' institutes for the farmers' wives; the duties of a mother and the care of children; the influence of the woman In a home. Miss Card also addressed the ladles again this afternoon on the manner of caring tor the sick.
