Disordered Condition in Metal Markets the - Dominating Influence In the Market The Heavy Liquidation In feieel Stocks a Feature ot the Day. New Tork. Sspt. lf-The dlsrdered conditions to the metal markets as the dominating influence again in the stock market and defeated any tendency to ward Improvement prompted by other considerations.. The distinction was marked again between the railroad list nd tie metal industrials, the former be ing moderately affected by the depression In the totter and showing some disposi tion to rally at the last. Tha feature of the day market was the heavy liquida ttoan the United States Steel stocks, both classes falling' to new low levels for the year, the common stock selling at ?T4 and the preferred at 4. Evi denliy the speculative assumption was that the conditions that have overcome the copper trada mijrht develop in the Iron, and steel trade. No news was forth txmtPK to Indicate any fresh change in tte iron and steel trade. An effect was felt from the publication of a repo'.r from Pittsburg that the pro ducers of iron hud determined to meet anr tallins: off In demand with a curtail ment of production. There was consider able liqui.i.tuon in our market around tha opening which caused a loss of about 16 joints. The news was bearish and the stock market situation exercised an unfavraable Influense on price. The trading: element all favored the short side und even covering; of heavy line of cotton steadied the market only few points. The weather forecast over Sunday was favorable and while these conditions lasts the movement and picking of the crop will be a bearing argument.
