General Tone Inclined to Hopefulness - DulliieM Duo to Fact Tlmt Bank Statement Was Not to Be Publish ed Xntll After Reflslon.v a New York. Nov. K.-Th general tone In to-day's stock market was Inclined to hopefulness but the effect on prices was marred ly the resumption of some forced liquidation In a limited group of Blocks which had a sympathetic effect on the whole list. The Hill stocks and Atchison were notably affected by this telling and made wide declines on com paratively light transactions. When this Vas completed there was a vigorous re covflrv. The market was dull, owing rartly to the fact that the bank state ment was not to be published until after the expiration f the stock narket ses sion. Foreign markets showed some re newed perturbation over the extent of the gold withdrawals for New York snd the private discount rates advanced both at London and Berlin. The london stock market reported some ap lrehenslm of a further rise in the official discount rate ot the Bank cf England early next week notwithstanding , the strong position which the bank 1ms t-?n able to secure during the week as a result of the 7 per cent, discount rate in force. The demand for currency in New York was quiet to-day and the premium showed a declining tendency as en effect of the constantly arriving supplies of gold. The hank statement must be accepted as evidence of uninterrupted drain ot cash out of New York to the interior which the heavy arrivals of Imported gold proved Inndequato to meet.
