Rain began falling dur ing the seventh Inning and Umpire McLaughlin called time for thirty minutes, until the rain stopped. At the end of th thirty minutes the rain had ceased, but it Was too dark to continue the game and It was call ed. It was purely a pitchers' battle. Weaver and Hammeraley were in ex cellent form, Betscher mad a sen sational catch, which saved two runs and th game.
