For the benefit of the Southeastern Underwriters' Insurance Association, the local fire department yesterday af ternoon eave a demonstration of its ability to care for the Realty Build ing in case a Are shouW occur there. Through the building runs a large main, with which water connections fun be madje with the street hydrants. This wan done yesterday afternoon snd from the hose, which had been attached to the other end of the main, on top of the building, a sufficient stream of water was thrown to reach nearly all of the buildings in the sur tound block. Thin evening at 8 o'clock the literary address will be delivered at the Auditorium and after the regu lar commencement exercises. Dr. Francis P. Venable, president of the University of North Carolina, will de liver the diplomas to the graduating class. A large crowd will doubtless attend the exercises, and an enjoyable even ing Is anticipated. The school pupil huve worked hard to make their part m me commencement exercises at tractive and the teachers have giv en many hours in training their classes for the occasion.
