To all engaged In literary work tere romes a time when ffr the time being the Imagination flags, ideas seem to have vanished and all appeals to inspiration seem to be powerless. There are well-known cases In which great writers have had recourse to nrtlflVal stimuli. Voltaire and Halzac found what they required In coffee. Goethe preferred burgundy, while De Musset and Edgar Allan Poe fled to alcohol. Hasheesh was to Baudelaire what splum was to the author of "The Confessions " n his early days Goethe found that Indulgence In wine impeded his Intellectual work, for he had noticed that when Schiller drank irynre than usual the literary results wtre deplorable. The faults with whhh Schiller had bt-en reproached by his critics, Goethe declarej were due to no other cause than this. The mixture of alcohol and absinthe in which De Museet placed his hopes ruined his brain and he ceased to write. The genius of De Qulncey was destroyed by opium. A few years ago I was afflicted with rheumatism, which I think was caused by Indigestion. For about 10 years I was confined to my bed two or three weeks every spring and fall, when I would be so bad off , I could not move a muscle In my body. I tried several different doctors, but they failed to do me any good. Dur ing these attacks my head was shaved, and mustard and fly planters were applied to my head, back, shoulders and feet, but that treatment did it no Rood. Some friends in Charlotte adjed ue to try Mrs. Joe Person's Remedy. I bought half dozen bottles and took It. Finding; I was getting bet ter, I continued it until I took two dozen bottles, which made a per manent cure of me, as I have not had any symptoms of the troubl since. I consider Mrs. Joe Person's Remedy the finest medicine that is sold to day. I have recommended It to sev eral, and It gave satisfaction in every case. Before using Mrs. Person's Remedy my "usual weight was from 135 to 145 pounds. Now I weigh 170 and my general health is good. JNO C. RANKIN, President Spencer Mountain Mills, Lowell, N. C.
