This year his wheat yield is pleasing to read, and instructive as well, for it shows -what can faa done on old North Carolinia soil when it is well tilled. They can, how ever, be taught to swim rivers with the aid of goatskins or jars fastened under their necks. During 'the Beluchistan expedition of 1898 the camels were low ered into the sea from the ships, and their drivers, plunging overboard, clambered to the back of their charges, causing the animals' heads to come up; and thus assisted, they were piloted ashore. Millions will be spent in politics this year, we can't keep the campaign go ing without money any more than we can keep the body vigorous without food. Dyspeptics used to starve them selves. The climate of Southern California is deemed even preferable for this indus try to that of France, the home oj. silk culture. The consumption of raw silk in this country is enormous and the entire supply comes from foreign coun tries, principally from Japan, Chkia: and Italy. In 1899 the total imports of this raw material were valued at $43,-646,872. The quicker you stop a cough or cold the less danger there will be of fatal lung trouble.
