Atlanta, April 11. A brick was hurled through a window at Dr. Len G. Broughton while he stood in the pulpit conducting, services at the Bap tist Tabernacle last night. Through a glass the missile came crashing and the large congregation of over 500 people- was in a state of excitement and indignation. The brick, from all indications, it is said, was aimed at the doctor's head, and that it fell short of its mark was probably due to its having struck a post in an adjoining room. Dr. Brbughton cannot form any theory as to any motive that led to the attempt to assault Tiim while he was in the pulpit; nor can the members of his congregation assign any rea son for the cowardly and ruffianly net. They say it may have been the work of revenge from persons who thought themselves aggrieved at some of Dr. Broughton's outspoken criticism of what he believes to te objects for ar raignment in the pulpit. A reward of $100 will be offered for the person or persons who attempted the assault.
