' ' ' One of the most brilliant weddings of the season occurred . last night in the-town of Marshall when . George Prltchard, m prominent young attor hey of that place and son of Judge Jeter, C. Prltchard of Asheville, was married to Miss Mary Robena Red mon, also of Marshall. The wedding was solemnnlied fn the Baptist church and was largely attended by friends and relatives. Quite a num ber of people went down from Ashe ville for the event, tncudlng Judge and ' Mrs. J. ' C. Pritchard, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur T. Pritchard and Mr. and Mrs. Thomaa,"S.. Rollins. " Rev."' Mr. Oude,1 pastor of the ' Baptist church, performed; the -eefemony. v , The church was elaborately decor ated in a color scheme of yellow and palm and golden rod were extrav agantly used. Special music had been arranged for the occasion and was played by Mlsa Hurd of Marshall. Mrs. Arthur T. Pritchard sang "My Violet" Just preceding the extrance of the wedding party. Mrs. Thomas S. Rollins, a sister ft the groom, t was dame of honor- and waa lovely In a white lace gown over chiffon, trimmed with yellow satin. She carried a bou quet of white rosea. . The brldemalds were Mia Brown of Asheville and Mis Womble of Bouth Carolina, who wore white marquisette gown with yellow band and saahes and carried bouquet of white rose. Miase Mary Weaver and Lillian Rollins, both of Asheville,. were the dainty little flow er girls, scattering rose petal before the approaching bride. James price of Greenville, 8. The second session of the conven tion of the North Carolina Postmas ters association, which convened last night at the Battery Park hotel, was held this morning at 10 o'clock. Since the meeting began 50 more postmas ter have arrived so that there are now an attendance of about 160. There were three addresaea this morn ing on subjects pertaining to the work of the postmaster and after that there was a general discussion on the postal savinga ayatem. J. P. Spence of Charlotte delivered most Interesting address this morn- ng on "The Organization of the Post office Force," which was of much value to the hearers.! At the conclu sion of Mr. Spence'a address, T. E, Wallace of Wilmington . . spoke for some time on the question, "Sunday Closing and Compensatory Time; and he in turn, was followed by an address by Inspector Bulla, who spoke on "The View of the Postal Savings System from the Tax Payers' Stand point" This address was followed by a, general discussion on the suDject, and Postmasters Douglass of Greens boro. Brlegs of Raleigh, ' Hoover of Thomasville, White of Mebane and Rollins of Asheville took part In It MaJ. W. W. Rollins was apppinted committee of one to send telegrams of best wishes to the president and the postmaster general. , . The Postmasters' league, composed of official of fourth class offices, held a short business meeting at the Ashe ville club at 3 o'clock. Opening N'snlon. .The first session of the fifth annual convention of the North Carolina Postmasters association, . which in-! eludes the organization of the presi dential postmasters und the Postmas ters' league, met In the Battery Park hotel ball room last mght with a large attendance. The opening exercises consisted of the welcoming addresses, the response, several addresses by prominent postmasters and officials and the appointment of committees. P-Camphell, pastor of tne First Presbyterian church, Chas. G. Lee. In behalf of the mayor of the city,, welcomed the visitors to Asne- vllle. He sald the postoffice must be manned with, polite people; that the postmaster of., every place should be of the highest type of citizenship.
