Barker, the old pioneer, who wiih brought to Asheville. about a month ago from Madison-.county,, charged with running a '"still," and who spent hia sixty-ninth birthday in Jail here on, default of bond, was lounu 'guilty, and Judge liny d sen tenced him to a year and a day In the Atlanta prison.. 'Tils attorney pleaded for a more lenient sentence on ac count, of his age but the Judge stfld tne defendant wasn't much older than be was himself, and he did not con sider him an old man.
