Court Notes. *
May Term of Alamance Superior
Court opened Monday with Judge
C. C. Lyon presiding and Solicitor
S. M. Gattis prosecuting for the
State. This being a mixed term,
a grand Jury was dtawn with Mr.
W. J. Graham as foreman, and tWfc
trial of th 2 criminal docket was
taken up. The grand Jury dis
patched business and finished its
work yesterday afternoon and waa
excused. The criminal docket will
be disposed of to-day and the civ
il docket will be taken up to
morrow. Several road sentences
have been imposed and the school
fund has been materially increas
ed by fines. «
Some old offenders for selling
liquor were before the court. Some
of these have been on the roads,
but the court gave them pVetty
stiff fines this time. The effective
course seems not yet to have been
discovered, but the offenders will
no doubt continue to build good
roads or supplement the education
al fund.
Next week we will give a fuller
account of the proceedings.

Deafhen Cannot Be Cured
by local applications as they can
not reeach the diseased portion of
I the ear. There is only one 'way to
cure deafness, and that is by con
stitutional remedies Deafness is
caused by an inflamed condition of
the mucous lining of the Eustach
ian Tube. When this tube is in
flamed you have a rumbling sound
or imperfect hearing, and when it
is entirely closed, Deafness is the
result, and unless the Inflammation
can be taken out and this tube re
stored to its normal condition
hearing will be destfoyed forever,
hearing will be destroyed forever;
nine cases out of ten are caused
by Catarrh, which is nothing but
an inflamed condition of the mu
cous surfaces..
We will give one hundred dollars
