Williamson went to Greensboro yesterday and each brought back a handsome seven-passenger Chandler automobile. Mr. Robt. L. Holmes bought one of this make two or three weeks Ago and they liked it well enough to buy. They are handsomely designed cars. Among the Sick. Mr. T. J. Griffin, near here, who has been confined to his home several weeks, is reported slightly improved. Dr. Geo. W. Long is still Con fined to his home, but is np most of the time. > Mr. C. B. Irwin is improving, but Btill confined to his home. Major Bamm Dead. Henry Bamm, colored, familiar ly known as "Major," died about 2 o'clock this afternoon, after an illbesß of a few weeks. He was about 66 years of age. He had lived here most of his life. For a number of years he had conduct ed a restaurant and served tempt ing dishes to his patrons. He was highly respected by hia white friends and he will be missed. SOCIAL. Miss Martha Holt is entertaining a house party this week. Dolph Long. Ed. Moore Dead. The colored man, Ed (or Tobe) Moore, shot in the leg last Wed nesday night by Bill Wllliamaon and carried to Ss. Leo's Hospital, died Saturday and his body was brought back So nday for burial. Bill Wllliamaon bad a bearing yesterday before V. M. Euliss, Eaq., J. P. The Coble Reunion Association Will hold its annual meeting oil Wednesday of next week, Aug. 11, at Coble's Lutheran, church, which is in Guilford county 12 miles south east of Greensboro and about 16 miles West of Graham. D. H Coble is President and H. C. Coble is Sec rety. Rev. D. I. Off man is Historian. Mr. Offman has gathered about 2,500 names of Cobies and their relatives. Supt. J. B. Robertson is asked to speak at the reunion next.week. He belongs to the family tree as his mother was a Coble, her parents both being Cobles. More than 2,000 peo ple are expected to be in attendance next Wednesday, Building Notes. Today dirt was broke for the new motion picture theater on N.- Main St., next to Mrs. C. S. Hun ter's residence, by Mess. J. .S. L. and G. W. Patterson. The con tractors are Mess. A. B. Nicholson and John A. Bryan. The build ing will be 26x83 feet, two stories. Mr. Phil, S. Dixon is building an annex at the rear of his build ing on W. Harden St. It will be used for a motorcycle sale and re pair shop. The brick work on Mr. Jona than Thompson's builuing will be completed in a few days. No advisory 'board could be large enough to accommodate all who feel competent to give advice. Last ' Monday afternoon. Dr. W. 8. Rank in, Secretaiy of the State Board of Health, met with the members of the Cjyic and Bealth Committees, and gave excellent suggestions as to improving the health and ap pee.ranco of our town. He has prom ised to come to Graham at a later date and inspect the town generally —and Ia -k lots particularly—and the following night he will deli vera pub lic lecture in the court house on health and sanitation. It is hoped that every man, woman and child in Graham, who can do so, will come oui t' this lecture, as what Dr. Ran kin will .ave to say will be of inter est and benefit to all who hear him. Every business concern and indi vidual in our tO-vn should co-operate with thepe ladies in their work. Ou town has been called "Graham —the Ideal," and this title is de served in many respects, for no town of its size in North Carol : na has better water, lights, streets and citi zens than Graham; but there is still room for improvement, and the Wo man's Club of Graham is determin ed that every part of our town shall be made as healthful and attractive as it is possible to make it, but in order to do this, they must have the hearty co operation of our whole town. The Governor has pardoned Bud Giles of Rowan, who had served seven years of a 10-year sentence for arson. He waa but 11 years old when convicted. At Wilmington Saturday D. W. T.
