?Mrs. Jim Cates of Graham died
this morning at Clinic Hospital,
Greensboro, aged about 60 years.
She was a daughter of Squire Robt.
J. Thompson of Burlington. At
this writing funeral arrangements
had not been completed.
?A slow rain fell in the early part ?
of last night. It was not a season, I
but laid the dust and will do lots of I
good. Within the past two months, '
prior to this, there have been three
rains, and all combined have am
ounted to only about two inches.
?In a rucus at Roobydoo on
Number 62, north of Haw River.
Will Leath, colored, was shot in the
leg by Clay Smith. Sheriff Stock
ard went to the scene and found
some liquor around. It is believed
liquor was at the bottom of the
trouble.

built on the Capt. Parker property |
east of N. Main St., it is learned. A
new street North of the home of I.
I. Henderson has been laid off thro
ugh the property. Two of the ,
buildings have been completed, an- I
other is under way and others may
be built. The Staley Lumber Co.,
it is learned, is putting up the build
ings. At present there are few, if
any, Vacant homes in Graham, and
we axe glad to chronicle this evi
dence of growth.

was stolen last Friday night was ,
found near Charlotte Tuesday, so
Sheriff Stockard was advised by
phone Tuesday night from police.
