THE GLEANER GRAHAM. N 0., MAY 10, 1934. , IjJBCKD ETKHY THITE8DAT I. O. KERNODLE, Editor. $1.00 A YEAR, IN ADVANCE. i Botered at tne -*oatolllcc atOranan>. .N C.. at wco iu Al(M? matter ' " [ I June Primary to Name Candidates There is no dearth of candi- j dates for county offices and the Legislature in Alamance coun ty. Voters should be able to choose a good ticket for the i November election from the j array. Only those who have filed, a ' list of whom appears in this issue of this p >per, will have their names on the Primary ticket. From those filed for county offices, it is possible to select a set of officers for the county, capable of discharging the du ties efficiently, and satisfacto rily to the people at large. All of the present county of ficers, with offices in the Court House, are candidates to suc ceed themselves. The voters will have to determine whether they will continue them in of fice or choose others in their stead. But, in choosing, a sin cere regard for service should l>e kept in mind. In politics there are many el ements which influence the voter. Some are of a personal nature, on account of some lit tle thing said or done that rub bed the hair the wrong way. The voter has a chance to settle such scores and he usually set tles them. It is a straight and narrow way that the office seeker, depending on the popu lar vote, has to keep. The voter ought to be broad enough to eschew petty things and vote for only such as he believes will render the best service in the places to which they aspire. But that does not always prevail. The candidates for the nomi nation for the Legislature ap pear to be more active than other candidates are. This is due to the fact that most of them have been outspoken as favoring certain policies. There are those favoring a Sales Tax and those opposing, and those who have not committed them selves either way but pledge to do and favor those measures which they conceive best for the public good. In the June 2nd primary.it is understood that only Demo crats will be voted for, as no Republicans have entered for the primary but selected candi dates in a county convention.
