June 3. 1916. for stale -officers, members of congress, district officers, a'nd members of the general assembly. * See. 2. .State primary to be held on Saturday. Primary to be conducted in accordance with general election law and chapter 90 of the Revisal. and all .other statutes shall apply to primary elections unless otherwise provided for in this act; all acts made criminal in the elec tion laws shall ^EeT criminal when committed in a primary. Sec. 4. State ixwtrd of-^leetions will meet on Saturday. March 25. 1916. to appoint the county boards of elec tions: the county? boards of elections will meet on Saturday. April 15. 1916. at the court house and organize in the manner provided by law; the county boards of elections, on j Saturday. April 22. . 1916. shall ap point a registrar and judges of elec tions for each election precinct in tlie manner prescribed by law; the registrars and Judges so ap pointed shall likewise serve in the general election following their ap pointment unless for good cause the county board of elections shall ap point others; the registrars and judges before en tering upon their duties shall take the oath of office. The following-named sums shall be. paid to the state board of elections by the candidates for the following offices at the time of filing notices of candi dacy: For congressional office $50.00 For judge of superior court, solicitor, or any state officer $20.u0 For state senator $5.00 Candidates for any county office, at the time of filing notice of candidacy, shall pay to the county board of elec tions $5.00, except candidates for sur veyor. coroner, and county commis sioners. who shall pay $1.00: constables and township officers are not required to pay any fee. Sec. 5. The registration books shall be open from Thursday, April 21, 191$. and closed on Saturday. May 20, 191 ?. I At the first primary new registra tion books shall be provided in which ! on each page, there shall be a column headed with language. Each elector shall be per mitted to vote for his choice for pres ident by name to be inserted in the ballot arranged therefor, and to vote for his choice of candidates for all other offices under this act by making a cross-mark in tue small squares op posite the names of the respect vo candidates for whom he elects to vote. It shall be the duty of the board of elections having in charge the duty of printing the ballots for primary elec tions to be held under the provisipns of this act to so print the ballots that the names of the opposing candidates for any office shall, as far as practi cable, alternate in position upon the ballot, to the end that the name of each candidate shall occupy, with ref erence to the name of every other can didate for the same office, first position , second position, and every other po sition, if any, upon an equal number of ballots, and distribute the said bal lots, when so printed, impartially and without discrimination. flee. 11.
