Prize Winners Winners in the June-July Sales Contest of the Norfolk Branch of the Ford Motor Company, have just beet %nnountoed T?y J. H. Wood, Branch Manager for the Company. Starting the first day of June every dealer in the Norfolk Branch territory went after first place honors in his particular group, and the free trip to San Diego to the Pacific International Exposition, in progress there now. Rules for this contest gave deal ers an equal opportunity. The dealers being classed In five dif ferent groups, according to the population of the territory their agency covered and the company's potential selling prospects. The winners announcement by Mr. Wood revealed that the Dealer Prize Winners in their respective! groups were Crowell-Dodson Auto Co., Danville, Va., John Flanagan Buggy Company, Greenville, N. C. Chatham Motor Company. Cha- ' tham, Va.. Plymouth Motor Com-; pany. Plymouth, N. C. and Henry Vann Company, Clinton, N, C. Mr. T. J. Nottingham, Jr.. Zone: Manager, will accompany the par ty on the trip, as the result of the tone over which he has con trol making the best record in the entire Branch territory. These winning dealers were the guests of Mr. Wood Id Norfolk at Hotel Nansemond, Ocean View Park, on August 15th. They will leave on September lat for Sfcn Diego, by way of Chicago. Thia contest was arranged by Mr. Wood, and according to the latest figurea. was one of the moat successful ever staged in thia territory. Sales, Instead of the usual summer slump oft, have held an even line over this or dinarily dull aeason in the South. The party will arrive In San Diego, Thursday, September the fifth. While there they will be the guests of the Ford Motor Company, who have arranged a full three days of entertainment and tours for them. One of the personally conducted tour through features of this trip will be the the mammoth Ford Exposition In progress. While there the party will at tend a special luncheon as guests of the Ford Motor Company, at which time they will be addressed | by W. C. Cowling, General Sales Manager for the Ford Motor Com pany. who made his plans to visit the Exposition during their stay. Farmers are urged to be extra careful in buying pigs thia year.. Disease outbreaks are becoming frequent in some areas. Every) time a truck load of diseased pigs is moved, it may lead to an other outbreak of cholera or oth er disease. MISS MAUDE HOLM KM Sanford. ? Miss Maude Holmes of Raleigh, died at Lee County Hospital Wednesday morning *t 7 o'clock, following a brief ill ness. Mlsa Holmes was the guest of her sister, Mrs. M. S. Davis. In Louisburg, when she suffered a stroke of apoplexy, early Sunday morning. She was brought to Lee County Hospital on Tuesday. Miss Holmes, who was born in Franklin County, was the daugh ter of the late Rer. K. D. Holmes, former pastor of Steele Street Methodist Church, Sanford, and the late Mrs. Holmes. She receiv ed her education at Louisburg Col lage and tor a number of years tanght In the Sanford Schools. Later she graduated In nursing at the Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. and practiced her pro fession here. the prtst six years Bliss Holmes has been in charge of the Infirmary at the State School for the Blind in Ra leigh. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. M. S. Davis, of Louisburg; Mrs. B. P. King, Jr., of Birmingham. Ala.; and Mrs. W. M. Cade, of Sanford; and a brother. Russell I. Holmes, of Louisburg.
