Purpose of the safety program "is to reduce the pain, suffering and economic loss resulting from logging and sawmill acci dents," Weatherly said. ij * Edger K. Pitman of Ply mouth, Chairman of the As sociation's Insurance and Safety Committee, will speak. Also on the program will be Stan Blalo^k of the North Carolina Labor Department of Raleigh. The Labor De partment is cooperating in the Forestry Association's 1969 safety program. Willis Nash of Louisburg, a member of the Association's Insurance and Safety Committee, will preside. Thursday's Dutch treat supper at the Murphy House Restaurant is open to all log ging contractors in the Louis burg area. C. Tobacco Tour Here This Week The Annual Research on Wheels Tobacco Tour will be held on July 29, 30 and 31. The tour will include a stop at the Pinnell farm in Frank lin County Wednesday, July 30, from 2:55 P.M. until 4:10 P.M., according to C. T. Dean, Jr., County Extension Chairman. The Pinnell farm is located on Highway N.C. 56 in the Cedar Rock Com munity. Watch for the large Research on Wheels sign. At the Pinnell farm Dean said the group will observe an Area Soil Fungicide and a Type "E" Variety Test. The Fungicide test is located on hot black shank land. Fifteen treatments were used in the test and they are replicated four times for a total of 60 plots. The Variety test in cludes 17 varieties replicated four times. It includes the popular released varieties, the four new ones released for 1970 planting and N. C. Breeding Line 1076. Dean said that anyone in terested in tobacco is invited to join the group at the Pin nell farm and that free ice cold watermelon and soft drinks would be served. Tar Heel League The Rotary Junior All Stars will play Durham at Garner tonight at 6 P.M. ac cording to League President Bill Beckham. The Rotary Little League All-Stars will play Raleigh Wednesday night at 6:30 P.M. Location of this game is Gar ner.
